Hello, well i have had the dilemma of not having had a period for about two- three years straight. The one time i got my period way back when, it lasted for three months..because i had not gotten it prior for many months. And WHEW...was it heavy and LONG lasting!!

I am ready to commit now to some sort of birth control...or hormonal drug. Though i am scared to ingest hormones, something has got to give!

My question was...is it still possible to get pregnant even though i have not ovulated for about three years..NONE whatsoever? or could i be perimenopausal?? (im only 20 years old) I am VERY scared of getting pregnant and not knowing because i will have no missed period to give me a clue. Any symptom makes me think im pregnant..i am very stressed.

I thank you kindly for your time, and would appreciate anything anyone has to say.

You could potentially be in very early stages of perimenopause. What is your weight, height and ethnicity?

Could be a pituitary issue, ie hypopituitarism as a symptom. Have you gone to the doctor?

Thanks for replying,
I did go to the obgyn a few months ago and was perscribed some type of hormonal drug. The woman there said that since i started my period later (when i was about 16) it may not be all that abnormal. but i know of no similar cases...
I was too scared to take hormones at the time, but now i am dieing to get that perscription note again!

I weigh about 110 and am 5'3 caucasion and 20 years old.
My mom told me that she wasnt regular until she first started having kids so maybe its hereditary?
but she certainly didn't go as long as three years with no period.

me too!

i have had no period for 3 years and i am really scared that i won't be able to have kids. :/

i had my 1st period when i was 10, and they were always irregular but thats normal for the first few years, but my periods have NEVER been normal, and since i haven't had one in 3 years now, i'm really worried.

Wow whats in the water! i too have not had a period since december 2006 it is now september 2009 . i get one once year i am 27 (very young). i finally got a period back jan 2007 a day after the tragic homicide of my only sibiling so i contribute that one to stress. i got next one august 2009 extremely heavy. sometime i take herb black cohosh made a period come once 2008. well thats my sad story since i havent been able to conceive but once my daughter is nine and my husband would like to have one more so please helppppp!! lol .research pcos that might be helpful. holla!

for women who had a period and it just stopped there is a fancy word for that called amenorrhea.
if you research amenorrhea you will find the reasons why a women stop getting periods, the tests she has to take to rule health issues out, and what she can take to get her period back again.
