Q: No period for year
asked by: DoctorQuestion on March 17th, 2009
I am 14yrs old and the last full regular period that I had was in December of 2008. I have not had a period since then, I spotted for 1 day in February but that is it. I have had my period for about 2 years and had been very regular up until this. I play volley and am in track. Please help. I'm wondering if there is something seriously wrong or should I just wait?

It is not uncommon for teenagers to experience irregular menstrual cycles. It is caused by the expected hormonal fluctuations. The body in teenage girl needs time to produce adequately the sex hormones.
Additionally, the excessive physical stress might be causing enough hormonal disturbances to affect your menstrual cycle.
