I too, am having similar problems.

I had my last injection at the end of March 10. It took until the 12th November 2010 before I had any kind of bleeding. Which was fine, I was expecting this.
But since then, I have had some kind of menstrual bleed every 14 days, apart from between 10th December and 3rd January, when I went 24 days - I thought this was a sure fire way of telling me things were getting back to normal - since the 3rd january, I have had 2 bleeds - one 14 days after the 3rd, the other started yesterday.

Before having my little girl,I was ALWAYS bang on, every 28 days, no messing around, I could practically time it to the minute.
Now, I'm confused as to when my periods are going to regulate themselves, and I can ovulate, so I can conceive my 2nd child.
Anyone think I should go and see my GP? Will they be able to help??

Hi, I have had a similar problem. I started getting the depo shots in Aug 2008 3 month after having my little boy. me and my husband decided to try for another baby so came off the shots in dec 2009. whilst on the injection my periods had completely stopped. dec 2010 i still had no period!
I decidecd to see a doctor for help who gave me a pill to induce a period. this worked and had a period that month. We worked out dates after this and tried for a baby. A month passed and my period did not return!
I thought i could of been preg as i had signs of it. So decided to do a test but came back negative!
I then went back to the docs who then reffered me to a gynocologist who i seen on jan 31st, since then she reffered me to a fertility specialist but I have now had bleeding changing from really bright red to really dark brown on and off for the past week and a half!
What is going on? it isnt enough to use anything so dusnt seem like a proper period but just when i think its stopped i wake up in the morning and its there again! has anyone else had this? and how long do u think it lasts for. I hope it is my body getting back to normal and that i can start and try for a baby properly!

I HATE the depo. I was on it for a year and a half.My mom forced me to be on it. Then I turned 18 i went off of it. I have been off for about a year now and i have only had 3 periods. about every 4 months. And when I do get my periods I am in so much pain. Im not on birthcontrol because I wanted to give my body the chance to come back to normal. I worry so much that I am pregnant because I miss my periods so often. I have taken over 15 tests in 4 months that I have been with my boyfriend. I have researched everything and it says that I may not be able to conceive easily anymore. So when I do want to start a family its going to be difficult. Well there goes my future! Im very irritated. I just want to be myself again! SCREW YOU DEPO!!!!! If I am given the chance to tell anyone about this terrible product I do.

Depo ruined my life!
Depo ruined my life!!!
I had the coil after my 2nd child in aug 06 as my menstrual cycle before was lasting up to 20 days. I had the coil removed in dec 07 as I was having problems (but no bleeding) and went straight on the depo as advised by my doctor.

In jan 10 I woke up one night thinking I was having a heart attack. I was rushed into hospital with all the symptoms, only for all the tests to come back negative. I spent the next 6 months in and out of hospital, having ECGs, blood tests, x rays, heart monitors fitted, kidney tests, MRI scans etc, all saying I was completely healthy.

I continued to have rapid heart beats around 150bpm, sweats, numbness in my face, pins and needles, anxiety, pains in my chest and arm, stomach problems, headaches and wanting to sleep 24/7. Sometimes I felt totally drunk even tho I hadn't touched alcohol for months!

Finally my friend told me about an article she had read about a woman with all my symptoms.... It was the depo that was causing everything. And there was me feeling as tho I was going insane and must have some disease or brain tumor!!

I stopped my depo on 10th June 10, it is now over 9 months later and no signs of my periods returning. I have however had all pregnancy signs even cravings since dec 10 with negative pregnancy tests, even done by blood by the doctor.

I still have slight palpitations and sweats etc, but I feel as tho my body is slowly becoming healthier!

I hope all of you get your bodies back to how they should be soon!

Danni xx

This sounds like me, and I too thought i sometimes am having a heart attack because of the chest pains i been having. I do have numbness in my face as well. I looked up side effects of the depo and numbness in the face was not a side effect so yea i thought i had a terrible illness or something. I read your story and I feel much better. i have fast heart beats as well. I can be just sitting on my couch and they start up. It would scare me because I thought it was something wrong with my heart every time i feel this. I feel much much better now. Thank you and I hope you feel better!!!! Smile

I had a total of 3 depo shots, so I was on it for 9 months. I was due for a shot in February of 09 but went on the pill instead. I stopped birth control a year ago in hopes of getting pregnant. I got one period in December 2010. Nothing since. Bloodwork and ultrasounds came back normal. I am now going to see a fertility specialist. Depo is horrible. I started it when I was 20 years old. You would think my doctor would have kept me informed.

Period after depo shot
Had my last depo shot in December of 2010. Was due for my next shot in March of 2011. Didn't get the shot and now it is the end of August 2011 and I still haven't had a period. Have been getting increasingly nervous, but reading these posts and knowing that I'm not the only one makes me feel a little better. Think I'd prob still better see the dx. But releived none-the-less.

I got my first depo shot about the end of december/begining of jan. I got the 2nd one sometime in march. I was due for my next shot in the begining of june but decided not to get it. The whole time while i was on the shot i still had my period regularly about every 28 days although they were a little lighter and lasted longer but i nevet missed one. I had my period in the begining of july and then two weeks later at the end of july. I missed my period my period for august and september and have been having cramping on and off since the week of my first missed period. Is this normal after getting off the shot? I have had unprotected intercourse but i took a hpt and it was negative so now im clueless. Help?

No periods after stopping DEPO SHOT!
I am 20 years old and I was on the depo shot for 2 years! My last shot that I had was in September of 2010, I was due back for my next shot in December of 2010 but did not go because I was not with my boyfriend anymore. Since then I have still not started my period again, and it continues to worry me! I went to my family doctor and had bloodwork done and everything came back normal. She then put me on some progestrone to help start my period. I took that for 7 days and still nothing?? DEPO has caused me so much stress, I worry if I will ever be able to have kids one day, which scares me. It is now September 2011, exactly one year since my last shot, Im hoping that my period should be approaching in the next 2-3 months. If not I dont know what Im going to do. Anyone have any advice?

I had my annual pelvic exam today and told the doc about taking the first round of depo shots back in September of 2010. It's been 17 months since I've had a period, and all after ONE shot! She told me that it should have taken no more than a year for my cycle to become regular again and that I could have permanent bone loss as a result. I'm going to go get blood work done soon, to see how I'm fairing in all this. Gotta say that while I'm not looking to have kids any time in the near future that I'm growing more nervous after reading how hard of a time some women have after stopping this birth control. I wonder what other affects can be attributed to my hormones being out of whack for so long. :\

I have been on depo for 10 years and was never told about any major side effects. I am 32 and ttc. My last jag was 3rd August 2011, and i have not had any signs of anything going back to normal. Still no periods and not even had spotting etc. I have asked my dr for advice and help but they don't seem to be interested. This is really starting to get me down now as time is not on my side for starting a family. Wish i had never taken this.
