I had the relatively new birth control Implanon (implant in the upper arm) similar side effects etc to Depo Provera (the shot).
I had it removed the the 17th of december, I haven't gotten a period yet (There's NO way I'm pregnant- used protection and haven't had sex since removal) Please don't suggest pregnancy, I know that's not what it is.
Anyone who has been on similar form of birth control, how long after removal or dis-continual of birth control did you get your period again? I've had PMS like symptoms and my boobs are killer sore (which they were while on the implant too) Im just ready to get my pd and get it over with
-the pill is not applicable because those hormones are easier excreted.

I had Implanon implanted in 2006, and removed the implant in 2009. While I had the implant, I never had a period at all. When I had the implant removed I had a tubal ligation, as I have no intention of ever having children. It is now 2012, and I get a period somewhere between every two to four months. I used to be as regular as a clock, and got a period every 26-28 days, even when I wasn't on birth control. I think this product has some long term effects that influence the menstrual cycle. I am not worried for myself, but I am concerned for women who want to get pregnant eventually. For those planning to become parents, I would not recommend Implanon.

No Period after implanon removal
Hello ,
I had the implant in my arm Jan 2007 and i was bleeding constantly for 6 months. I asked the doctor to remove the implant and i have not had any other contraception since. My periods are irregular 1 every 3 or 4 months and i have been trying to get pregnant since Feb 2008 with no success. I believe that it is all due to the implant as before i had this inserted in my arm .
i had a healthy cycle. having a period every 32 days like clockwork!! Thanks Smile

Implanon Removal- Pregnancy?
I had my implanon removed about 3 1/2 weeks ago, and still no period. I was with my partner a few days before, and also have been since. I have had no bleeding, but I am very tired and having lower backaches, and sometimes nausea hits out of nowhere. I have taken two tests, one about a week after removal and one at about 3 weeks, both came back negative. Is it time to call the doctor?

Side Affects After Revomal
I had my implant removed at the begining of Janurary of this year. i had no bleeding when on the imlant and have not had a period since having it removed, im also tired constantly and have lower back pains. i know im not pregangt as i havent had sex since last year. i have been to the docotors several times about it and they have no idea whats wrong and i have now been refered to the gynecologist, im worried i may be infertile as i have read on other websites that it is a risk with the implant. i was thinking of starting to take the pill again to see if that helps with having a cyle.
Any information anyone else has would be really helpful.

Implanon
Calm down everyone Very Happy

Missing periods is perfectly normal after the removal of Implanon. It can take any where between three days and two years for the body to regulate itself again (I know, it sucks, but that's the price we pay.) I'd encourage each of your having problems to speak with a doctor from a family planning clinic (Local GPs aren't usually trained for these issues, so they'll "refer" you to another doctor). Fretting and panicking can also delay a woman's cycle; so try not to stress.

I've had it for 3 years, and I appreciate your help. I've been having pregnancy symptoms, but I am pretty sure that its not from the implanon so I had to see how fast it was possible for my body to regulate. Are you a healthcare specialist?

He's lying through his goddamn teeth. The only risk of infertility on Implanon is if you leave it in after three years for an extended amount of time. Don't worry about it.

How long does it take to stop bleeding after removal of implant?
I had the implant put in after having my first child Had it in for nearly 3months got it took out as i was feeling depressed had hair loss gained weight mood swings everythingg...It was fine the first month then i got my period and i'd bleed for a month 1/2 after that. So i got it out last friday and i'm still bleeding...
Was wondering does anyone know when the bleeding might stop.???
I wouldnt recomment the implant to anyone!! The only upside is you dont have to think about contraception.. you pay a price i'll never tamper with my body again.
Please someone reply im sick of the bleeding Very Happy

I had the implant in for 2 1/2 years. I had a period 6 weeks after I had it took out, lasted for 7 days. I work in a hospital so have spoke with a Gynecologist, he told me the hormone from the implant should be out of your system within 5 days.

Its been almost 6 weeks now since my last period. I have period symptoms but nothing yet. Also done preg test as it could have been possible but its negative.

Its strange really as I have had a few pregnancy symptoms, but test says im not. I have had back ache, abdo cramps which lasted for a day, then sore boobs for a week, and occasion waves of nausea.

dont seem to be many answers here but hey ho here goes!!
i had implanon inserted 2 1/2 years ago, never had any issues with it, got fairly regular periods (tho very light) and didnt really suffer any side affects. had it removed on friday, which was a bit of a mare, 25mins to pull the damn thing out, massive amount of bruising and arm bled for a couple hours after, and yes, its still very very sore now!!!!
what my actual question is (yes i am getting there now) can you get pregnant BEFORE you have the implant removed? i have heard rumours it is possible if you have sex up to 7 days before removal, but not sure if to believe it!!!!

That is my same question that's why I'm here reading all your opinions Smile but I need an answer.. ok I hope someone can help I'm on the implanon and is time for me to remove it, it was due yesterday but doctors gave me an appoiment til feb 12 as I've read lot of posts I see that most of you didn't like implanon, I did because nothing really happened durin the three years, yes I've only had spotting every moth and very light periods I was ok with it, but my question is can you get pregnant couple days before the due date? My due date to remove it as I said was 21 of jan and I was having a light orange discharge but Ive had sex with my housband and now I'm just thinking about the chance of getting pregnant due to the day that I was supposed to have the implanon removed. I don't mid getting pregnant but as I've read some of you are desperate to ge there and I honnestly dont want to lose the posivility of being pregnant again due to the implanon effects. The thing is that I want to be sure if the implanon really works until the day it supposed to be removed or maibe days after, today is the secon day of the due date and I would like someone to help by answering if I can get pregnant??
