I stopped taking the depo 14 months ago when my partner and i decided to try for baby number two, still to this day not even had a twinge.
Been to the doc and they told me to do temp ovulation chart which told me i'm not even ovulating, also had blood test last week to see what that could tell me but not getting my hopes up. Doc said if the blood test comes back with bad news i'll be refered to a fertility sepcialist, i'm only 24 and it's really starting to upset me now more than worry. I've tried to put it at the back of my head cos i heard stress affects you conceiving but still no baby. If anyone has any advice i would really appreciate it.

Stopped Depo Provera no return of menses
I am so angry that so many people are having the same problems on the depo and no doctor or nurse has responded to anyone's message o any site. I have two kids and I have been on the shot for about 18 months and I have been of the shot for two months now with no period. I'm reading all these horror stories and now feeling more afraid fo myself and my future fertility. The best freaking answer I found is to take lots of calcium supplements, detoxify my body, and excersise. I'm fat not, gaining 20 pounds before I even realized.Like everyone my doctor didnt tell me my bone density and future fertility where at risk. Any lawyer's reading this? Class Action Suit Possible?

1 depo shot in may, no period as of october
I took my first depo shot in may of 2011 and spotted daily afterwards. I decided when it was due to get my second shot in July 2011, since i spotted the whole 3 months - i was not going to get it again. here we are in October and not one spot of blood since July! i'm not trying to get pregnant, I'd actually be ecstatic to start my period these days just so i can get my ovulation cycle back on track. When can I expect to get my first period after stopping the depo shot? When should I start worrying?

It is normal for the periods to stop after having started the depo. It usually takes most women a yr or more for it to come back. For some wonen, it may start back again sooner. Im supprised that the gynocologist has not told you this.

Thanks so much Depo Provera..
I started taking the Depo shortly after I gave birth to my son, I was on the shot for 6 months and took a 3 month break then I got back on it for a year and then stopped again. I have now been off the shot for a year and have not started having my period as of yet. I am also dealing with the bone scan and graphs to see If I have Osteoporosis (thanks to the lovely shot) I am 26 and thanks to the birth control I thought was good for me ( I was also not informed of ANY of the side affects) I may have Osteoporosis and infertility. This drug needs to be taken off the market, the bad outweighs the good here in my opinion.

I was on the Depo shot since I was 14yrs old (1994) and when I was 29 (2009) it was my 29th birthday that March and I was due for my depo shot but my bf and I were driving across the country so I couldn't get into the doctors to get it done. It was the first time I ever missed a shot. I got my period for the first time in that many years around the time I was due for my shot and in December 2009 gave birth to my son. I didn't worry about using protection because the doctor had told me it would most likely take up to 2 yrs to get pregnant if I decided to try because I had been on depo for so long (15yrs) well.....he was wrong and I now have an almost 3 yr old son who I love more than life itself....and to think I never planned on having children! Anyway my point is I was on the depo shot for along time and my bones are fine and I have clearly had no problem with fertility, I'm sorry this happened to you :O( but it doesn;t happen for everyone, although I have heard a lot of stories about it being difficult to conceive after depo, thankfully this was not the case for me and probably many others who don't come on forums to tell of their positive experience with the depo shot.

I do think that the depo has a lot of down sides, but I also think a lot of ladies need to take control of their own education and health. I wasn't informed of any of the side effects when I chose to get the shot either, but I went home and RESEARCHED it. Something that i suggest anyone being prescribed any new treatment does, then you would have found some of those horror stories and been able to make an informed decision. I'm not saying the doctors have no ownership in this believe me they do, but we have to be our own advocates here and make sure that we get the information we need to protect ourselves.
Anyway onto my experience with depo. I've been on the shot for approximately 6 years. In this time I did notice a pretty massive weight gain, total lack of periods, constant headaches, decreased sex drive and vile mood swings. However I didn't get pregnant and personally accepted those side effects as a better option for me personally than an unwanted pregnancy.
I decided to stop having the shot in October 12. It's now December 12 and I am just beginning my first period. At least I'm assuming that's what it is as I've had spotting before but this is considerably more heavy. So I'm hoping this means that my husband and I can expect to start trying for a baby problem free shortly.
During coming off the depo I have noticed extremely sore breasts, abdominal cramping and fatigue but it hasn't really been too painful. I have trouble with my bone density now though and have a habit of breaking my feet. All in all I loved depo when I was on it because I knew it worked. But now that I'm coming off if it I realise in hindsight that I made the wrong decision to take it and shouldn't have used it. That having been said I cannot take most other birth controls so this was more or less the only decision I had, condoms don't always work as my lovely 8 year old daughter proves lol. All in all I wouldn't recommend it. Long term the side effects are just not worth while. I just hope that I can conceive soon and that depo hasn't destroyed my chances of having another baby like it seems to have done for quite a few others.
I wish all of you all the best.

Depo-problem
I was on it for a little more than 3 years. I was supposed to get my next shot as of dec 13th and decided to stop taking depo because I gained 40lbs. Now I have cramps and girl cravings but still no period and all of these posts are starting to freak me out. Sad I'm 27 and want babies and its sounding more and more like its never going to happen rather than just taking a while. I took a plan b after sex once and hoped that would also trigger a period which it did not. Can someone give me some hope here..
