I had a tubal ligation in March of 2009. Now that we are in August, I still have not had a period. Is this normal to not have a period after a Tubal Ligation? Also i was breastfeeding for the first 3 months, but now we are not doing it anymore. I still feel cramps as if my menstrual cycle was going to start, but no period. Please any advice at this time will help.

I had a tubal done in November of 2008 but I had periods regularly until maybe the past few months. I think I have a severe hormonal imbalance because I spot all through out the month and never have what I feel is a period. You guys also may have a hormone problem. You should see a doctor about this. I'm making an appointment to get on the pill. I'm going to use them every other month so I don't get the side effects [which is the reason I opted for a tubal in the first place] I think I may be low in estrogen. Oh well. We shall see.

After I had my baby and a tubal in 2000 I did not have a period for a year. I dealt with hair growth on my chin, weight gain, and depression. After years of going to doctors finally one diagnosed me with PCOS. Apparently it was caused by my tubal because I had never dealt with female problems before. With medication (Metformin-Birth Control-Wellbutrin) I was able to get back to normal. I feel for you mothers that are dealing with this because it was a dark time in my life. Do not let someone tell you it is normal, find someone that will help!

do your research
ok ladies, for any women who thinks about getting your tubes done in anyyy way,(dont)do your research first,,i did not..it has been awfull,i had my tubes cut in 1992,ever since my period is all over the chart,or not at all,and when its not there is severe cramps, chills, nausea, bloat, sore breast, and i could go on,,i have seen lotts of doctors from, mich,la,fl,and lots of test,4 biopsys,,guess what they say nothing is wrong,,and i had blood work up and tests done to see if im going through medapause,im 44 ,they say nope not even starting it,,please ladies check out Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome they do not tell us this and more then 50% of women with tubels are getting reversed just to get rid of these PTLS SYMTOMS,,makes me soooo mad i could cry,,,

I had my last child Sept. 2008 and had a tubal ligation and I have had problems ever since. I have a hormonal imbalance (went to the OBGYN to find that out) because of the ligation. I cramp all the time, no period, and have gained 80 pounds since I had my child. I never would have done it if I knew this would happen. I was getting shots of hormones to help but now have no insurance cause my husband has been laid off for a year. I have 4 kids and can't afford a $1200 shot and doc visit every couple of months. So now dealing with a thickened uterine wall that can turn into uterine cancer and am having severe abdominal cramping. I'm seriously trying to find out if I can get the whole thing reversed cause I'm so unhappy and uncomfortable.
