No heartbeat was found at 11 weeks. Is it possible the baby is still alive? I have absolutely no miscarriage symptoms. No spotting, bleeding at all. Also, my pregnancy symptoms still exist and feel the same.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. When are they going to check it again? What did your doctor say about the baby not having a heartbeat?

They told me to go home and wait 3-4 weeks and if I dont have the miscarriage then they would do a D&C. Never said they would do a second ultrasound, I was going to request a 2nd Ultrasound prior to the D&C. Still hopefull the baby is alive. Wouldnt I start to have miscarriage symptoms? its been 4 days since the ultrasound...

It doesn't sound like your doctor thought it was necessary to do a second ultrasound. It is also possible not to have miscarriage symptoms. I'm very sorry you are going through this. This is not something I've ever experienced so maybe someone who has gone through this will be able to share more information with you.

The same thing happened to me. I actually found this post because I googled "no heartbeat at 11 weeks". I actually measured at 11 weeks, 1 day which is exactly where I was (had the u/s on friday) but no heartbeat on abdominal or vaginal. So something must have happened to the baby that morning or night before. The doctor told me the diagnosis of miscarriage is 100% but I don't have any symptoms of m/c either. No cramping or spotting. I made them schedule me another u/s for monday morning (tomorrow) just so I have peace of mind before moving on with d&c. I know exactly what you're going through and I'll update tomorrow...hopefully good news...

heart tones
A babies heartbeat is not always heard at 11 weeks. Most OB/GYN's dont listen for hearttones until 12-13 weeks. If you are heavier, sometimes you can't hear a babies heart beat even later in pregnancy with a normal doptone.
It can also take up to 4 weeks after a baby passes before your body realizes that the pregnancy has ended.
I would definately have a u/s to confirm that the fetus is no longer a viable pregnancy before having a D&C.

Hihi... I have had 1 healthy baby, and then 3 consecutive miscarriages after that.. and my fisrt miscarriage occured about the same time as yours...12weeks, I had twins, but they could not detect a single heartbeat during my maternal scan, which is routinely done at 12 weeks..I was given 2 choices, to do a D&C, or to wait it out..... It could take anytime from 3 days 2 3 months.. depending on your body.. and I decided to do the d&c the very next day, so as to get it over with and start the recovery process and get on with life... Its called natural selection.. rest assured many of us who have been there, have managed to come out of it a stronger person... it just needs time.. I understand.

My midwife could not detect a heartbeat at 11 weeks. I had an ultrasound my baby was perfect but it had no heartbeat and it was not moving. It had stopped growing at around 9 weeks. My insurance would not cover a D&C so I had to wait to deliver. (you will go into labor if you are 3 months or more along) My labor started 8 days later there had been no spotting or cramps until this time. It hurt almost as much as having a full term baby but the labor lasted under an hour. I felt something was wrong my midwife found tissue stuck in my cervix so she sent me to the ER. They gave me a suppository that was supposed to shrink the tissue. It did not work and I felt pressure doen there. I went to an OB he removed the tissue that by now was infected and was put on antibiotics for a month. One month later I started to bleed so back to the OB, it was just my regular period and he warned me that it may be heavier than usual. The next morning after flushing away 5 lots of clots and blood I called 911. I was taken to the hospital given drugs to stop the bleeding which did not work. A Dr examaned me and blood shot all over the floor and his white coat. That evening they finally decided to give me a D&C. I detest my insurance company for not letting me have the D&C no one should have to carry around a dead baby and deliver it alone. I do have a happy conclusion I did eventually get pregnant again and had a healthy full term baby who has just turned two.

I have the same issue. I went in today for a sonogram at 6 weeks and everything was there except for the fetal pole and a heartbeat. Everyone keeps telling me to stop worrying because a lot of the time a heart beat is not heard till 8 weeks by ultrasound

Same thing happened to me yesterday at my doctor's office. They could not detect my baby's heartbeat. First a nurse tried to detect it and couldn't find it, then a second nurse also did the same thing and couldn't find it either, then my dr took me to his ultrasound room and he could see the baby, but no heartbeat. So I was taken downstairs to another ultrasound room and same thing, no heartbeat detected. Doctor said looks like that baby had stopped growing about 6 days ago. I'm scheduled for a D & C next week. I couldn't stop crying yesterday. Feel so sad about this.

11 weeks no heartbeat - sac measures for 8 weeks
I had my first doctors appt last night, they did one ultrasound and saw 2 sacs. They sent me elsewhere to do a second ultrasound, and said there was only one sac, a bleed, and no heartbeat. I have another ultrasound scheduled for next week because I am in denial that I lost the baby. I am 11 weeks but the sac measures only 8 weeks. I have also not had a single miscarriage sympton, no spotting, no bleeding, no cramping. Im keeping the faith until at least next week when they confirm wether or not there was any growth of the sac or not. Its very heartbreaking and traummatic that we are all going through this..the wounds will eventually make us stronger.

11weeks and 2 days, 2 sacs with no fetal pole and heartbeat
I am on the same boat. I'm supposed to be 11 weeks 2 days now in my pregnancy but in my ultrasound today saw 2 sacs but no fetal pole and heartbeat on it. My doctor give me an option if i just have let it wait to get another bloodwork done and see what happens or do the D&C cos the doc told me that i possibly had a miscarriage. Do i still have the hope that i still have the baby alive inside me? What's the result for you after that? I'm really confused.

I too, am in the same boat. I went to the Dr. today and she told me that she could not detect a heartbeat. She brought a second Dr. in that confirmed that there was no heartbeat. I was prescribed medication to "hurry along" the process of a miscarriage, but I am going to get a third opinion before I take it. I am not ready to believe yet that my baby is gone.

I am going through this also and waiting . I had a u/s done and 2 days later told no heart beat come in for d&c .... I asked for a 2nd u/s and the tech dr came in and said he thinks he sees something and sending for a 2nd opinion . Got more blood work and dr said it is at 64,000 . So 1st u/s said 7wks 2 days , 2nd one 2 days later said 5wks 6 days . So dr said I should be about 8 wks now and should have heart beat . I am sched. for D&C tomorrow and do not feel right at all . Been getting twitching in tummy on bottom right pelvic area ... what does that mean ? I want them to do another u/s before the D&C tomorrow , hope they will . So far dr has not said anything about the 2nd opinion from other hospital ?? That bothers me .
