Im on Haldol. Which seems to be working a bit but at night, I have these eerie thoughts about satan, death, and other crazy thoughts. I dont even sleep most of the time. I just sit there, spooked. Ive been seeing a shrink for 2 years and nothing seems to help. I dont know what Im going through. What could it be?

Do you believe in Satan, do you think he's real? Maybe you were taught these things in Sunday school class as a kid.

What I'm getting at is, maybe if you could realize Satan does not exist, it would help you to not feel so afraid at night, and possibly you would stop thinking about him.

Honestly, I use to call myself and athiest. God wasent really forced on me but I was the type that had to see something in the flesh in order for me to believe it. The whole "devil/grim reaper" thought probably came from when I smoked marijuana the first time. I got really paranoid and thought a black shadowy figure was after me. Now, it just seems like everything Im afraid of tries to manifest itself at night. All the scary movies or odd movies ive seen throughout my life seem to just come to life. it's so weird.

You may want to consider cognitive behavioral therapy. This may help you find a way to cope with this. Has your doctor given you a diagnosis? Perhaps haldol is not the right medication. Have you tried other medications? If not perhaps you could inquire with your doctor about what else is available to try. Unfortunately, it is trial and error with medications. Some medications seem to work for a long time and then seem to lose efficacy in some people. That may be part of the picture too. I hope you will continue to try and find answers.

Have you tried leaving the tele on at night or a light perhaps. I get a little spooked too but these things really help me.

I think I may try that cognitive-behavior therapy. I also have this phobia with lizards, and at times when i sleep, I'd be having one of my night fits and when I awake, i;d see one. Hopefully I can get through all of this. it's been two years.

CBT can definitely help with phobias- give it a try and let us know how it works out for you.
