Night Guard and Jaw shifting?

Hello everyone, I am new to the community. I have clicking in my jaw, not loud enough to disturb someone near me, but loud enough to hear whenever I open my mouth and chew. Sometimes it causes pain in my neck and head, but sometimes I have no pain at all. I do grind my teeth, so I have a night guard and when I wear it at night, I have no pain when I wake up. The only issue I have is that when I get up in the morning and remove the night guard, my bottom jaw feels shifted. The night guard only covers the top row of teeth, it's a night guard from walmart, the Doctor's night guard advanced therapy. When if shifts, my jaw doesn't click anymore, but is it doing more harm than good? I will pop back to the original clicking position if I wiggle my jaw. Any ideas?
