No, she doesn't have a cold. As long as
her lungs have been diagnosed as ok, I
think the problem here is excess fluid
which still has yet to come out. This
might take a couple weeks to get rid of in
the worst cases. I think the reason why
there is so much fluid in the baby is
because of the prolonged pushing and the
fact that the baby didn't have the proper
care when it was born.
All babies will have some amount of fluid
that needs to be syringed periodically for
a few days. Every time she needs to eat,
before she eats, lightly syringe her nose
of excess fluid. If she is lying down do
the same to her nose and even her mouth of
she seems to be choking on it. Letting
her sleep in her carrier or car seat will
help a lot with the drainage too.
No medications can be used for this. It
will just take a little time. If the baby
stops breathing, loses color, or you feel
that something isn't right, trust your
instincts and call the ER.
