New York State Health Question
Posted: 01-10-08 18:26pm

Hello all! Smile wave

I have a "friend" on a different forum who is 17. He is wondering if it is "ok" or legal for him to go to the doctor by himself, or if his mom would have to go w/him.

The reason he "needs" to go to the dr is b/c he is experiencing patches of petechiae. I know that's sort of strange, but if he has it due to low platelets then you would think he'd need to see a dr right?

Other potential symptoms include: frequent urination (like approx every 30-45 min)
Slight weight loss (Monday was 175, Tuesday was 170)

He is on Adderall for ADHD

Any help would be appreciated!!

(I originally posted this in "communtity" and figured it wasn't the correct place)

I was thinking I should clarify my question.

Is it legal for a minor to go to the doctor by himself in the state of New York?

as long as he has been there before he should be allowed to go.
however the bill would be sent to his mother and if there is any major testing involved they might need consent

Ok, I'll let him know. He said they always have his mom in the room too. No matter what the procedure....Which I thought was odd.
