Hi all,
I am 23 years old. In May I got sick with a bad virus which resulted in my entire neck swelling up. All my glands were so large and swollen I couldn't move my head or open my mouth for a week and I felt like i had a ball in my throat, so it was hard to swollow. I was tested for mono but it came back negative. I eventually got better. I have had a consistent weight since I was 18 and consistent cholesterol. Within one month following my illness I gained 15 pounds which I have not been able to lose in the past 9 months. I have gone to all extremes to lose this weight. Healthy eating w/ exercise adn starvation. Not one pound has come off.
My fingers are puffy and my cholesterol which was always below 200 shot up to 250, my triclycerides are also very high. I am also having issues remembering things. I'm very foggy. I was tested and had a TSH of 2.7 and I was put on a very low dose .025 of Synthyroid. It hasn't helped. I was tested again and my TSH went up to 2.92. I am waiting to see waht my dosage change will be.
Can anyone tell me if they have had a similiar experience? My mother is hypothyroid and so is my brother.
