Q: New pill side effects ?

I started a new birth control pill this past Sunday (Ortho tri-cyclen Lo, started one week and two days ago). Within just a few days, I started feeling a little nauseous from time to time and my breasts became tender. I know that birth control can cause these side effects, but I was surprised to have symptoms like that so soon after starting the new pill (I had not been on any birth control prior to that). Is it normal to begin having side effects so soon? I have also had some spotting this week.

Also, I was told that for the first seven days after starting the new pill I should use a backup method. I did this, but then had sex with my boyfriend on the 8th day (last night) with no backup method. I'm paranoid that it was still a little too soon....should I get the morning after pill while I still have time?
