My mom is currently going through testing but currently has a diagnosis of Cronic Pancreatitis. Her new Dr has ordered tests that she has already had in the last 2 months. She presented with pain in her back and passing very large, solid amounts of stool that would often clog her toilet. She has no oil in it. MRI showed narrowing in pancreas and she is scheduled for an ECRP and EUS(her second or 3rd) She is a 58yo diabetic and has been for 4 years. She is a smoker and has never drank. she has lost some weight recently but she has also changed her diet dramatically b/c of the diabetes and started to walk 3 miles daily. She eats like a bird and ever since I can remember she is very gasy and can't tolerate certain foods, mainly pork or pork products. The Dr. put her on enzymes for 2 weeks and she said she didn't really notice a difference. So he took her off. Is 2 weeks long enough to see results?
My question is with all of the CT scans, ultrasounds, bloodwork EUS' Wouldn't something have shown by now? The Dr. said that they don't see any obstruction to cause the narrowing and that it is possible for the PAncreatitis to cause it.
Can anyone enlighten me or tell me how you presented etc? any responses would be apprecieated. Thank you.
