I'd call your doctor. I always thought they took them off before you took them home... Your doctor should know.

You could wait for it to fall off still. Sometimes it just depends on the conditions in your home...I've had some that had to be cut off and cauterized (which is what the doctor will probably do with your baby's) and ones that have fallen off the day before the 2 week checkup and ones that only stayed on for 5 days and fell off but the button had to be cauterized.

The clip...well, there is no excuse for that still being there! They should have taken that off. It's uncomfortable for the baby. If the stump is still there, it's not going to hurt your baby for it to stay and there is no rush to get it removed unless it looks infected.

Just call your doctor Smile

They do not take the clip off here. My baby came home with it. It fell off 5 days after he was born and there were no problems. I have to say tho, that I hate the big clips that they put on now. Good luck. They will probably take it off for you when you go to your doctor.

Are you using the rubbing alcohol on it daily to help dry it out and keep it clean? I found with my daughter as long as I kept up on the alcohol swabbing it came off after 5 days. Ohh by the way....when it starts to come off and it seems like it is almost off..even if it is hanging by a tiny "thread" don't rub it or tug it. I know it can be tempting and have know people who just "knock it off" and it caused bleeding!
