I discovered a new black mole on my left thigh last week; originally I thought it was a deer tick, but it actually looks like two deer ticks overlapping (not round or oval, kind of heart-shaped) I went to my primary care Dr. on Friday, who wanted to wait and see if it would go away (she thought it could possibly be a blood blister, but noted that the black color was a bit "concerning"); if it is still there is 3 weeks, she wants me to see a dermatologist. I am 37, fair-skinned, green eyes, freckles (brown only), and my grandfather had melanoma. My Dr thought it was too small to be worried about at this point, but I just talked to a friend who had stage 2 melanoma, which looked like two small freckles. I am wondering if I should be concerned and get to the dermatologist sooner, or follow her advice and wait a bit longer.

I would wait it out. I doubt it could progress much in three weeks. Just don't forget to follow up when the time comes.
