I had some slight bleeding on the 5th and 6th only noticable when wiping then on the 7th I noticed bright blood when wiping it was more than b4 so I put in a Tampon and it was barely stained. I never have spotted before, nothing in my routine has changed at all. I'm due to start my period on the 12h. I have been tired but figured it's b/c im due to start my period soon also been bloaded and nauseated is it b/c I'm about to start my period?

Hi, and thanks for your medical question on eHealth forum!

Spotting a week before the periods can be due to implantation bleed. If you had unprotected sex, then either wait until 12th, and if you miss periods, take a test and see. Otherwise, you can also take blood HCG test about 3-4 days before periods. If pregnancy is ruled out, please consult a gynecologist.

There are many other causes of spotting between periods such as hypothyroidism, cervical dysplasia, cervical polyps, cervicitis (infection/inflammation of cervix), vaginitis (infection/inflammation of vagina), cervical and uterine cancer, uterine fibroids, hormonal imbalance as in polycystic disease of the ovary, use of blood thinners, genital ulcers, STDs and stress.

I think you should discuss these possibilities with your gynecologist. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind. Hope this helps. Take care!
