Last year my brother was diagnosed with neutropenia.
This year he was diagnosed with AML.

Is there a connection?

I have read that acute leukemia patients can develop neutropenia, is it common for it to happen the other way around?

Thank you.

He may have had myelodysplastic sydnrome (MDS) at the time, and which subsequently progressed to AML, although there are also multiple other causes of neutropenia, as well (and some leukemias may also present, initially, with neutropenia).
