Pain Management Answer A5428

List of other diseases, conditions, or injuries and their treatment: TMJ I wear a mouth splint at night. Ruptures Achilles tendon. repaired by surgery 2004. vaginitis. took one does medication two weeks ago. I have pain in my left side below rib cage. I have had a Colonoscopy, Endoscopy, ultra sound on my stomach, bladder kidneys, pancreas, liver spleen, ovaries. xray to bones of ribs, mammogram, all normal. no one seems to have any idea what this pain is caused by. I urinate frequently during the night, sometimes twice a night, sometimes 4 times a night, always a full stream, no pain in urinating at all.
Current medical status: intermittent pain in left side, below rib cage. sometimes it goes awy when i walk upright, sometimes it goes away when I am occupied with something else.other times I can be just sitting and the pain wil come back. It is driving me crazy. i can't seem to relax, even though i am now on a medication for stress. I was on Fluoxetine for 6 years, for supposedly Low Seratonin levels. I am also a type two diabetic. diet controlled only. My Dr told me to stop taking Fluoxetine after I gained 60LB from taking the medication. That was a year ago and it seems that i have had this pain since about the time the Fluoxetine would have left my system. I am now taking Citalopram 20 mg daily. and also Estradiol 1 mg daily. When I wear an elastic sport back support during the day it seems to help. I feel like my back is not strong enough to support my body right now and am finding it difficult to constantly sit up straight,I feel like I get tired just trying to hold myself upright to keep the pain at bay.

The symptoms you reported can not be related to discontinuation of treatment with fluoxetine. The pain might have a neuromuscular origin. The nerves that come out of the spine in the thoracic part go under the ribs and if pinched or put under pressure, they can induce pain in the area they are responsible for. Thus the pain is “masked”. It is felt in one part of the body and the reason is in another. An x-ray of the spine, with a visit to an orthopedist or neurosurgeon or physical therapy specialist might help you solve the problem.
