Q: Neurological reasons for heat sensations in the legs
asked by: DoctorQuestion on January 30th, 2009
Over the past 24 hours I have noticed a heat sensation running from the middle of my left thigh right down to my middle calf including behind the knee. There is no swelling. There is no visible redness. Just a feeling of heat being pumped into my leg intermittent. I do have a few varicose veins on my legs and have had for the past 10 years.
I did alot of leg work at my exercise class on Wednesday but not sure if connected. No other symptoms.

Could you please advise whether I should seek advice from my GP.

Current medical status: Generally fit and well. Do aerobics classes twice a week. Weight ok and have a healty diet.
Current medical treatment: None

It is hard to say what the heat sensation is without further examination. The lack of swelling and redness indicates that an inflammation might not be present. That leaves neurological reasons for the heat sensation. However, if the condition lasts for several more days, at least a physical examination from your GP would be recommended.
