Hello everyone this is my first post. first let me apologize for my user name it was not my first pick i tried several but they got rejected. anyway I have been on medication for as long as I can remember to treat my bipolar disorder and my ADHD. I hated being on medication and I was looking for ways to get off my meds and stay off forever and that's when I found Neurofeedback. After about 40 sessions of NFB I was off all my meds and was able to stay of them and on top of that i was really highly motivated and thoughtful, my IQ even increased. I say this not to brag but in hopes that others will become inspired to try neurofeedback and reach the same level of mental health that I have. My goal now is to help others who may be trying to deal with bipolar or ADHD. Feel Free to ask me any questions about NFB!

No problem Mandy

Let's get started

1. You should look for neurofeedback professionals in your local area. a quick way to do this is just to google it with your local city in the search for example: neurofeedback in Baltimore

2.After you find some local NFB Professionals you will want to compare prices, in my experience some charge $100 a session others charge as much as $300 per session. if you go more than 3 times per week they might give you a discount on each of the sessions for that week or give you one for free.

NFB is not covered by insurance but trust me it's worth it as it is long lasting unlike medication.

3. Okay how the procedure basically works is you go to one of these professionals and they will interview you for about 15 min. they will ask you what kind of problems you are having e.g. bipolar symtoms, adhd, having trouble sleeping, raciing thoughts whatever problems you are having that you want to focus on for the next couple of months. The neurofeedback professional will then have you lay down on a comfortable chair and will attach a few sensors to your head and they will tell you to stare at a screen with some kind of visual reference that you will control with your mind. My neurofeedback therapist has me control a spaceship. it's cool and relaxing. A couple of times during the sessions they will ask you to give them a setting of how focused, alert, and relaxed you are on a scale of 1-10. Sessions usually last about 30-45 min. in my experience. Basically you are learning to self regulate you own brain.

After each session you therapist will give you a symptom tracking form to monitor your progress. And then you go back for as many sessions as you have to until your problems are gone.

I hope that I have answered you questions Mandy. If i haven't please don't hesitate to ask. I wish you the best.

Again if you want to ask me for advice on anything feel free.
