Q: nerve pain

What I am suffering from is past "itching" it is stabbing pain that becomes unbearable in the upper arms. Sometimes the pain will get so bad that the nerves actually burst and cause red hole-like acne on the arms. I don't know if it can be attributed to stress, but I guess I am always under stress, so who knows?
I have been to dermatologists, neurologists, chiropractors, and primary care doctors with hardly any relief. Lyrica was initially prescribed, but it did nothing after a while except pack on the pounds.
Now I am using a lidocaine patch which was wonderful in the beginning because I had to wear it only at night and I sometimes could even skip a night. The pain moves from one arm to the other periodically. Now I am wearing it during the day as well, and sometimes the pain over rides that medication, so I have to use "Bio Freeze" to help quell the pain.
Bottom line, I can't get relief, and I am slowly driving my family away because of the discomfort and unrelenting pain.

I hear you saying the symptoms started as itching then got worse. That does sound like nerve trouble. If it were primarily stress-related, it ought to respond to anti-anxiety and anti-depression medications. If those were tried and didn't work, then I would press your doctors for a diagnosis. It's much harder to treat a symptom when you don't know its cause.
