Q: Nerve Damage in shoulder

Dear Sirs,

I suffered an accident about 2 years ago where I was struck down in the street by a piece of falling masonary which struck me on my right shoulder. Apart from broken ribs, a punctured Lung and a 6" gash on the side of my head, I have been left with Nerve damage to my right shoulder. They measured it and I have 8" of damage to the nerve. I had some physio on my arm and shoulder but I have suffered pain all the time and have been told I have to have physio and lay down after, don't use the arm at all.

My problem is I have been getting a temperature and wondered if the physio is the cause? I have also been told that I will never get much better than I am now - which I feel very sad and depressed about as I am in so much pain and I feel that I will not be able to lead a normal life?

Is there any other treatment I can do to relieve the pain? I really need some advise

hello and let me tell you as myself a longterm chronic pain sufferer i can understand how you feel and i was depressed for a while.
these my friend are the things they don,t tell you and i have argued with my pain management on many an occassion" why only treat the physical side and ignore the mental affect it has on you"
then i realised that only i could overcome the longterm effects because if you let it get you down it does.
there is always a way to overcome the not leading a normal life senario and i found mine using this e.health forum and advising and supporting people.
its hard and i totally understand as my complaint is spinal so my walking is affected.
im not sure if the physio is causing the temp but it could also be any medication your on.
keep in touch we are always here to support you anyway we can.
