I can't get myself out of a cycle - my weight seems to fluctuate between 17.5 stone and 18 stone. I actually have quite a big problem because as soon as I reach 17.5 stone - neighbours, family notice this and start cooking me meals and offering me personal appearance/dietary advice. I DON'T NEED THIS! The problem is: I've not studied diet and nutrition, I don't have an interest in fashion/clothes and I have type 2 diabeties so hence the necessity and urgency to get down to a reasonable weight of 12 or 13 stone. It's just starting to get irritating because this happens every time I get down to 17.5 stone and I just can't break the cycle because I am always coming into contact with these people, don't have the money to spend time away and really can't be bothered putting up a counter argument with other people elsewhere who will probably want to try and intervene in a very similar way to these neighbours/friends.

I really don't know how to get below 17.5 stone without neighbours/relatives commenting on it and therefore making me feel self conscious, leading to feeling depressed and then gaining weight back up to 18 stone again!

Hi caringfriendoflupus and welcome to ehealth: You and you alone are the master of your weight...Your neighbor has nothing to do or say about this...The only thing that can happen is your using it as an excuse not to lose weight...Diabetes is nothing to ignore...You must get your weight down and control it...You can break this cycle if you want to be healthy...Honey, blaming it on someone else is an excuse...Diet and lose the weight...Don't do it for them, do it for you...Do it for your health...Take care...
