So..lets just get right to the point of why i'm sooo upset...If You cant afford to go out to eat (this INCLUDES tipping your server) DO NOT GO!!! Its as simple as that! I know the economy is terrible, yes that sucks, but..point is, if you're going to take up my table, for an hour...please...be kind..I have bills to pay just as you do..i need the money..a GOOD tip is 15% or more..never have I left less, unless the server screwed up pretty much everything...basically I busted my butt ALL DAY(10:30am to 10pm) for 80 bucks...80 dollars...for working ALL DAY..seriously? I'm stressed out because my boyfriends birthday is late this month and I currently BARELY have enough to cover my insurance and car payment...peachy...people dont understand how hard it is, i can't imagine having to survive off of that as my only income...thank god I'm in school i can't wait to quit that place, i'm tired of getting slapped in the face, giving great service and getting completely ripped off by cheap people day in and day out Rolling Eyes ...OH..and the worst! "you gave great service!" comments on the bottom of a check that gave you maybe 10%...like really...come on now..gee thanks

whew...i feel alittle better...

People want something for nothing all the time. Being in any service oriented job leaves you vulnerable to people's idiotic behavior. I am a nurse and don't rely on tips from people but giving some respect and being polite would be nice for a change. It would seem that civility in our society is gone. People treat others so horridly and without regard. What have we come to?

I know the hard work a server does. I tried it myself but couldn't hack it. I screwed up everyone's orders. I quit before I was fired. I always tip 20% because it is hard work and it is a thankless profession. Sorry your night was so terrible. There is no accounting for the miserable way some people behave.

thanks..i too am in the nursing field...going through the headache of applying to different nursing schools now...i love helping people, i do...but its just so nice to see some gratitude as you said for the things I do...I just cant wait to quit serving bc some people, not all, treat you as a dog...go fetch me a coke haha...oy...i HOPE today is better :/

Chin up! A new day can bring a new perspective. When you finish nursing school just be strong and don't let people walk on you. Not everyone is appreciative of what you do as a nurse but those that are make it all worth it!

This would drive me nuts. I used to work a concessions at a movie theater, not exactly the same thing i know, but I know how good it feels to get a nice tip here and there. It's like you could be having the worst day ever but just getting a good tip makes you forget about anything bad.

I like to tip well, it's been my experience that I get better service when my servers know they're not wasting their time with me Very Happy.

Plus, I know it's a good pick me up for them.

I can't beleive some people some times! I really don't think people know that most wait staff are not paid min. wage because they get tips. So for you to make enough money you need tips! We always tip well a little better when the waitstaff was very good. We know what it's like to need every dollar you make! Well I'm sorry and hope you have a better week!

thank you...and you're right, there are some people out there that are very kind and do understand, thank goodness for those people bc every dollar counts these days with gas being as expensive as it is..and I'm gonna be back in school in a little over a month, thats 35 minutes up there 35 minutes back everyday..so its alot of commuting and gas...hopefully things will get better! I do have my parents come in every now and then though Very Happy they always give me alil somethin extra...i think they feel bad for me haha

You and people like you are the reason I give AT LEAST 20% on all my bills. Hell, if it was a single digit bill (i.e. 9 buck), I just double it an make the extra the tip.

Work blows, especially when you have douchebags you have to service.

no no, i could never do anything terrible to anyones food..i'm a firm believer in karma haha

oh..funny story though, a customer at my restaurant and his wife each ordered a chicken burrito....i got the order perfect everything came out right, went back to check on them half way through the meal just so if somethings wrong I can get it fixed immediately..well i came back at the end of the meal and his plate was literally LICKED CLEAN..i'm serious there was not a single piece of rice left or anything absolutely nothing..so i always joke and i'm like "oh it was terrible wasn't it? haha" and he said "actually there wasn't enough chicken"..."haha right"...awkward silence..."were you being serious?" .."yes that burrito only had 2 pieces of chicken in it"........"would you like to speak to the manager?"..."yes, please".....O-M-G...coooome on! so the manager speaks to him yadda yadda and he gets his "terrible" burrito taken off and only pays for one burrito...then I get like a $2 tip haha...i mean, you could have told me earlier dude before you finsihed that terrible burrito..i could have gotten you another lol

oh..and another! This one guy and his family are JERKS but they're friends of the General Manager so..of course they get treated like royalty...I came up with a big smile(oh how naive i was not to know who he was...like hes someone I should bow down and worship or something) anyway..came up with my normal greet and all..only to be interrupted by this arrogant jerk.."Whats your name?".....told him my name "Well...do you like your job?"...."yes...."..."good lets see if you keep it"...o man...did i wanna slap alittle somethin extra in his burrito...like who are you to threaten MY job!? grrrrrrrrr


thanks to all of you that are so kind and know what we do go through on a daily basis...its the few of you that put a smile on my face that helps me make it through the night! thanks
