I am 54, been having Severe Hot Flashes for the past 4 years, with profuse sweating all over my body every 20 minutes to 2 hrs.
I'm talking Sweat running down my face like rain, drops running in my eyes, down my arms, body and down my legs into my socks, for the first 2 years.
They have slowed in their intensity, and I get them about every 2 hours in the last 2 years, to where they are more where I just get wet and sticky all over, and no more dripping and running into my socks.

But what I have not heard anyone talk about is my Irresistible Urge to Urinate, Every Time I get a Hot Flash.
If I don't get to the bathroom right away, accidents happen.

Is this a normal part of Hot Flashes ???

This subject is geared to the Doctor, but others may provide any input into this subject.

I'm 55 and its happening to me too!
I am in menopause and I notice when I get a hot flash if there is anything in my bladder than I have to go like right now. Its like the two are connected, strange huh? I'm glad I'm not alone. I hope you are feeling better. I get my good days and bad days, but I do alot of supplementation too.

I think that the more that we think about this, the more we are aware of it....Doing this, we just may make our mind more unsure if we have to go....It is easy to happen....

I thought the need to urinate triggered my hot flashes. My hot flashes were just about gone until after I had radiation TX for breast cancer. They tell me there is no connection but I find it hard to believe. With in the past 6 months I started to notice that when I feel the urge to urinate in the middle of the night it is a hot flash that wakes me up. I just figure that somehow it is all connected.

I think the older we get the more aware we are of urinating....I can just have gone and my husband will say we are leaving now...are you sure you don't have to go?.....So I do again even if I didn't have to before this....

I believe the idea of menopause messes with our minds and can cause many new problems....So goes life....

Take care,
Caroline

hot flashes and urination
I first fell like urinating then I get the hot flash. There are periods of time when I don't the hot flashes. Around four years ago they wanted to do surgery on my bladder. I was never told it was part of menopause. I refused and my bladder is now baack to mormal except that i get hot flashes when I need to urinate

hot flashes before urinating
Same symptoms here. I'll get a hot flash and then start feeling the need to urinate. I guess it is part of menopause. Thanks for all the posts!

urination and menopause
Hi CarolineEF,
Meopause doesn't mess with our brains, I am actually astounded as to the number of women that look at me as if I am crazy when I mention the big M.We have been condition to believe the big M is the end of our sexuality and our womanhood that is all.
A lot of females don't want to hear about it. This are the same women that are forever looking for the fountain of youth.
There really isn't much to admire there, other than we had firm skin, good complexions and we were lean. I would not trade today with the dumb inexperience girl I was back when I was wrinkle free and liver spotless. I like me now more then ever wrinkles, affirmities, hot flashes, plumbness and all.

When I made the comment about urinating, I am referring to life in general...When we head out I always go even if I don't have do...It is a natural reaction that I believe most people have...With me this has nothing to do with Menopause...I sailed through it and it never bothered me...

I was surprised listening to a conversation at the Beauty Parlor a few months ago....Three women were speaking about this happening that was to be in their near future....They were talking about what supplements to take so that they didn't have the dry skin...Another worried about hot flashes...Yet another was concerned about being sexually hot enough for her husband...

I had the worst time shutting my mouth as I wanted to tell them that this does not change....The woman changes...She accepts the unknown because whe has prepared for it long ago....

hot flash and the urge to urinate
I have come to the conclusion recently that some of my hot flashes are triggered by the need to pee. If I suppress the urge the hot flash starts. As soon as I pee it goes away. Perhaps the act of controlling the bladder raises the body temperature and the thermostat which isn't working so good at this stage of life overdoes it a little.

Who knows, maybe you found the answer to many women's problems...By holding back your urge to pee, you are pulling on muscles in your pelvic area...This could put a strain on other parts of your body....Hopefully another woman may find this of help to her...

Good luck,
Caroline

urge to urinate triggers hot flashes
I specifically typed in hot flashes and urinating. Because I noticed that too. If I don't remember to go often enough, sure enough the hot flash starts and I cán't get to the bathroom in time. And it's hopeless in the middle of the night.

hot flashes
Wow, I am glad to see I am not alone. I'm 52 and have been having intense hot flashes for two years. The fact that so many of us get flashes when we have to pee, or in my case, even pass gas, tells me they are in some way connected. Wonder what Dr. Oz has to say about this. Thanks for the posts.

Hot Flashes with urination
I haven't found having the hot flash causes me to have to pee. What I have found, is when I have to pee and don't right away, the hot flashes will start. But, if I use the bathroom right away, I don't get the hot flashes.

I have been really worried about this. I talked to my Dr and she said it has nothing to do with menopause. But, it all started after my hysterecomy.

At least now I know i'm not crazy! Thanks to all of you for discussing this so openly.

hot flash and need to pee connection
I'm so glad I found this topic online. I thought I was crazy. I am 51 and have had severe hotflashes for nearly 5 years. I flashed every 20 minutes for more than 2 years. Now it is every 1 to 2 hours all day and all night. In addition to these regular flashes, I ALWAYS flash when I get the urge to pee.

Hot flash and urge to urinate
Thanks Ladies, I too thought I was going nuts, until I read some of your posts. Hot flashes started more intense for me about 6 months ago, just before turning 50. I noticed these symptoms at night: First, I get nausea, then the flash, then the urge to urinate. During the day I don't notice the nausea or the urge to urinate. One co-worker said probably during the day we have more distractions then at night. Glad when this is over!
