Q: Necon 1/35 side effects ?

So I started on Necon 1/35 on November 11th, it is my first oral contraceptive. I had gone to the doctors that day and she wanted me to start the birth control that day. I forgot to tell the pharmacist to adjust the pack for whatever reason the doctor told me (that I cannot remember) because I had a Gardasil shot and a Flu shot along with school that day and was tired and forgot. So I just started at the beginning of the pack and have been continuing since.

I just took the 2nd to last pill on week two pill. I've been keeping track of what day of the week on the package I need to take in my day planner. But I started a very light period on Friday November 21st. I still am having it, still very light. I'm not going to stop taking the pill, but does anyone know what I should do? Because I still have another week and one day of the 'active' pills before I reach the 'inactive' pills.

I'm also experiencing a lot of back pain and some naval cramping that I never normally experienced with my periods before.

Is this something I need to notify my doctor of when I go back this coming Tuesday? Any advice, suggestions, or help I can get would be very much appreciated!

The spotting is called breakthrough bleeding. It's very common during the first three months of taking birth control. The bain pain and cramps are also common.

It would be a good idea to explain all side effects, your doctor may be able to switch pills so you don't get the side effects anymore.

As long as the side effects aren't unbearable, then your doctor will probably keep you on the same pill to see if your body adjusts on its own, but its better to keep them informed.

Maddie34,
Thank you so much for the help and advice. I talked to someone today whom I consider my mom because I haven't had one around. She also said that they are common symptoms to have. I actually do believe it is my period, because it has gotten fairly heavy (like normal) today. I will be sure to notify my doctor when I see her tomorrow! Again, thank you.

It's just breakthrough bleeding. You'll experience it in your first 1-3 months.
