Healthy active 35 year old male here. It started in late February of 2009. My neck started to become irritated throughout the work day, worsening as the day went on. I wear a collared shirt and tie during the day. My neck gets redder as the day goes on and it's very uncomfotable/irritable/not itchy. Once I take off my collared shirt it settles down. At the time of first occurence I had not changed my lifestyle at all. I have tried; washing my clothes in just water, including pillow cases, not using any product on my skin anywhere for several weeks, washing with only clean and clear. I have been to the dermatologist several times and finally we did a biopsy. They said it was Lupus, stay out of the sun and they prescribed a drug, can't remember the name, but I need to have my eyes checked and blood work done if I continue to use it. I also had blood work for systemic lupus and that came back negative. I have since stopped taking the meds because they were not helping. The sun has NO Impact on me, I have no scarring or any symptoms of a person with lupus would normally have...my face is clear etc....The respected dermatologist even said himself he would not have guessed that my problem is lupus. I only have irritation when wearing a collared shirt. I can be in the sun for days and I am fine. The only thing that worked was Prednisone, took that for a week and I was feeling great, I could't stay on that said the dr and the irritation came back a week later. I'm just dealing with this everyday monday through friday and right now when I type. Cold ac feels great as soon as I get in my car to go home, I strip my shirt right off. I have been dressing like this for 10 years and this just started. You know most people say on Sunday night oh.. I gotta go to work in the morning ughh.. I say uggh I gotta put a collared shirt on. I have tried everything I can think of but if you have some advice I'd be thankful.- Jeff

Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus, or skin lupus, can exist with or without systemic manifestations.
There are different types of skin lesions, some specific and some resembling other skin conditions, that are diagnosed as subtypes of skin lupus.
Skin lupus may appear on the face, neck, or scalp, or in the mouth, nose, or genitals.
Hair loss and changes in the pigment, or color, of the skin are also symptoms of cutaneous lupus.
Biopsy diagnosis is relevant one.

Best wishes!
