necessary after whipple op?

My dad had whipple procedure month ago ...Biopsy : adenocarcinoma in the head of pancreas surrounded with fatty tissue .. what is that mean ?
and does he need chemotherapy after surgery??

Unfortunately, the information that you have provided from his pathology report is not sufficient to allow me to answer your question. Other factors that are used to decide about chemotherapy or/and radiation therapy include: Size of the tumor, whether or not any tumor cells were present on the surface of the tissues that were removed ("surgical margins"), whether or not the cancer spread to his lymph nodes or/and nerves or/and lymphatic/blood vessels.

If any of the above "adverse prognostic factors" are present, then chemotherapy, with or without radiation, might be considered reasonable.

tumor was in the head of pancreas and did not spread to any organ and no tumor in gallbladder and duodenum
but it spread to two lymph nodes and did not spread to blood vessel
