Q: Nausea related to MS ?

Back in Nov, I started having random stomach problems, nothing major, but rnadom, annoying stomach problems. Just before this started, I was also way more tired than usual.

The day after Thanksgiving is when things got bad. I was coming out of the shower, when I was hit with the worst bout of nausea of my life. And it did not stop there. While I never threw up, I was SEVERELY nauseated 24/7 up until the week b/t Christmas and New Year, then...it started subsiding a little each week. Also, I had like NO appetite during this time and lost weight. Now, I am STILL nauseated although *knock on wood* it is not as bad as it was, and I have more of an appetite. I am in fear that whatever this was will return. During this time, I have had an endoscopy, which was mostly clear, only showing mild gastritis and the dr said that should not have caused those severe sx. I also had a gastric emptying study last week which was negative. While the nausea was severe, I was able to eat, just not a lot.....but it was BAD......the reason I thought of MS is b.c a lot of stomach stuff has been ruled out, and it has gotten a lil better each week, but has not yet totally gone away. Also, it started right after a shower.

Can nausea be part of MS? How long do MS attacks usually last? Also, my first cousin has MS too. Any help I can get here will be appreciated.

Love,

Lauren

Gastritis, no matter how mild it may be can and will cause the symptoms that you have described.

Now is it related to MS? Possibility or it could be from the medications in which one takes.

I was dx'd with Gastritis last year...started out I would get nauseated for about a day and felt terrible for a few more and would get relief once I vomited and this happened approx every 3 - 4 months for about a year and then last year, one complete month of nausea, felt as if something was nawing its way through my stomach 24/7.

Had that delightful scope which confirmed gastritis...my neurologist checked my B12 which was dangerously low and now I am required to give myself monthly B12 injections for the remainder of my life.

Without B12, gastritis can occur. Our stomach requires B12, without it nutrients are not absorbed...not a pretty picture.

MS related? Could be...remember MS attacks it's own body and the stomach is not on the do not touch list.
