nausea after gastric virus
Posted: 05-04-08 13:03pm

Im a 17 year old male. 2 months back i got ill. i would have intense nausea after eating anything and have a bad fever. i lost 1 stone in weight. i was weak a couldnt walk without needing to rest. i was diagnosed with a gastric virus. today the sytoms have almost gone

However, i sometimes still feel ill after eating larger meals but only in the evenings. Also i will sometime get the fever back in the evening and feel quite weak. i cant identify any particular food which triggers it. Also after i do 1hrs worth of swimming i feel quite lightheaded after, slightly disorientated and roughly 20mins after i will get waves where i feel like im about to pass out. i also cant seem to put the 1 stone of weight back on which i lost.

Before i had a normal diet full of vegatables, milk and meat. Please help im starting to get real annoyed with this bloody thing!

Give yourself some time to recover from that illness! That's a lot of weight to lose, so I'm guessing that it was no easy thing to pull yourself through. You may have still have some of the effects of the virus in you.

I think the problem is that by the end of the day you are just weak and need to rest. Try eating more, smaller meals during the day instead of fewer, bigger ones. I have this problem too that when I am exhausted, I feel nauseated and just need to go to sleep. It doesn't really have too much to do with food: you body is just shutting down and doesn't want the extra task of digestion on it's plate.

It is important that you take your vitamins every day, plus you might want to up your intake of vitamin C, which will help your immune system to recover. You have to remember that you were VERY sick and it might take just as long as you had it to recover, and probably more. Take it easy on yourself and try to sleep a little more. Your body works on recuperating the most when you are asleep.

I hope you feel better soon.
