I was diagnosed with PCOS a few years ago. Since I have been on BC and spironalatcone. This past May I stopped taking BC since I had been on for over 10 years I felt my body needed a break. Unfortunately I didn't get a period after that. In Oct I began taking Progestin but read that that was also a form of BC. I stopped and started taking Vitex (3 capsules a day 400mg) as I try to move to more natural way to handle PCOS. I am hoping to get pregnant. Are there any other natural substances to take in conjunction with Vitex to encourage pregnancy? It's been about 1 month since starting Vitex no period yet but I'm hoping it works.

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
Polycystic ovarian syndrome or PCOS usually responds to treatment with insulin modifiers as most common cause for PCOS is insulin resistance. Consider discussing with your treating doctor/gynecologist about getting started on these along with hormonal contraceptives for better control of PCOS and for regularization of periods. You can also consider discussing your pregnancy plans (when ready for pregnancy) with your treating gynecologist. Once the PCOS is under control, hormonal contraceptives would be stopped and ovulation inducers would be started to help you have more than 1 egg getting matured to increase chances of pregnancy. Take adequate rest. Drink plenty of water. Maintain healthy diet. Be in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately.
Take care.
