Q: Nathans Birth

Nathan Ritchie
6 lbs 15 oz
20 inches
born 1-2

This was my first baby. I was induced at 12;01 am on that morning. Matt, my parents, and my sister were there. At about 3 am my contractions started. I didnt progress to well so at 6 am they broke my water. when they put in my epidural it took a half an hour to put it in and then i went numb instantly. they thought that the epidural was in the wrong spot so they couldnt put the drugs on a good enough drip.I was on oxygen for the entire time because Nathans heartrate kept going down. It was pretty bad because they kept having to move me and turn me to get his heartrate to go down. I was dialated to 9cm for 2 hours before they decided to let me try to push. I pushed for about an hour and a half. With the 2nd to last push, his head came out. My dad (also my breathing coach) told me to push again, and my doctor turned around and said "no" but it was too late, Nathan had already been born. The doctor had to catch him with an ungloved hand because she didnt have time to put them on. and after 15 hours, i finally got to hold my beautiful baby boy for the first time. Its hard to believe its already been a week, but hes sitting here now sleeping and I kind of miss the feeling of having him inside of me. I wouldnt wish that labor on anyone, but all the pain was well worth it.

its ok that my labor was painful. Matt and i arent sure if we are going to have kids or not, seriously i dont know if i can put my body through all that again. Im only 18 so were going to wait until were married this time. Its going to be enough on us to both be full time students, working, and raising the one son. Matt and I were talking about maybe having another in about 2 years but well see.

I know its so weird still that hes laying in his crib instead of inside of me. I cant get over that. I miss the quality time but at least matt is getting more bonding time with nathan.

You are gonna be a very busy mum by the sounds of it! With still being at school etc. Me and Alan always said that we only wanted one child but know she's here and i've forgotten how painful labour was (lol!) we are thinking about havin another when Courtney is about 3/4 yrs old, shes 17 months now. And they are very hard work! But worth every second.

Oh and i want to see Nathan pics Wink pics, pics, pics!!!!

Congrats! Glad you got through it and now have your healthy baby. I think a lot of moms have that sense of something missing after carrying a baby for 9 months. I was like that for a while too but I can't imagine life without an active little toddler around. My little Eadie is 17 months now too. You live every day with a sense that they are growing too fast and an excitement to see what they will learn next. And, no matter how sweet they are when they are little you find them just as cute as they get bigger and more independant. I find myself wishing I had more freedom and time to myself but then when she is gone I miss her so much!

Good luck to you!

you can upload them to imagecave and then copy paste the EZcode into the text of your message on here.

there is a different EZcode for each photo so you have to copy and paste each one into your message on this forum

WOW...he is one of the CUTEST newborns I have EVER seen. I don't think (now girls, don't get your panties twisted at this, lol)my kids were even that cute when they were born. Yes, they were cute, but between the baby acne and jaundice in one and the prematurity in the other, well, I just don't often get to see such a perfect baby without complications. But GIRL, he has got some HAIR on him...it is sooo cute. Awww...lookit his hands and footses...I miss that!!!

thanks so much. its funny how people always comment on his hair, his feet, and his hands, even at the store. I guess im getting kind of spoiled because hes so cute, im thinking i might not get this lucky again. the most important thing to me is that hes healthy. Thanks for all the comments everyone. Ill have to get some new pics up soon, hell be 6 weeks old tomorrow!
