Q: Nasal Congestion After Rhinoplasty

Exactly a month ago, I had an open nose rhinoplasty. The surgeon narrowed my nostrils and used septal cartilage graft to build up my tip. A week after surgery, I bursted two blood vessels in my right nostril, thus requiring a cauterization. It was the scariest thing ever! I bleed so much that I could have easily fainted just from looking at the blood! The cauterization also hurt like a mother f*cker.

As of today, I am exactly one month post-op and three weeks post-cauterization. However, I still have nasal congestion ranging from mild to severe. When I blow my nose, I get blobs of yellow sticky stuff, and sometimes, runny, white sticky stuff. I don't know what to make of this, but my nose definitely feels less congested afterwards. The problem is, the congestion always comes back after a few hours. Plus, I feel like I have a lot of mucus or some kind of clot in my throat, which does not feel comfortable at all! It's the worse when I lie down and try to sleep at night. I've tried everything imaginable to try to get it out, but my attempts have proved fruitless.

I see my surgeon again in about two weeks, and I can't wait to bring these issues up! In the meantime, has anyone else experienced the same thing?
