I am currently taking narco (hydrocodone 7.5/325) 3 times per day for over 5 months. I think I have built up a resistance to the medication because it does not even touch the pain level I am at. I have read that oxycodone is more effective for chronic pain and fibro. Is this true? How do I ask my doctor about this, oxycodone has a bad rap and I am afraid he will stop seeing me if I ask. I have 2 questions, first: is oxycodone a better treatment for me and if so how do I talk to my doctor about it. I do not want to go to a pain clinic!
All you are going to end up doing is becoming thoroughly dependent on the narcos. My doctor started me on gambapentin to treat my fibromyalgia and it really helped. You will likely have to experiment with the dosage. I take a larger dose before bed and a smaller at breakfast. Good luck.
I have used everything listed here, except for the patch.
My doctor has me on (1) Norco tab @ bedtime because he's afraid the effectiveness would wear off if I took more.
He just put me on Tramadol for pain. By far, the most effective med I've had for pain is Cymbalta (90mg). I didn't realize how much pain I was in until I stopped taking the Cymbalta for 10 days. The doctor had to raise the dose because of the pain level.
Amytriptiline put on 100 lbs., Tramadol appears to be working, but not w/out Cymbalta.
