Q: narcolepsy diagnosis

i was diagnosed with narcolepsy.

for those of you who have also been diagnosed with narcolepsy -
-do you always/sometimes/or rarely feel rested after naps, even its for a short
period of time?
-what about after an average night's sleep?
-how many hours do you sleep per night?
-could you sleep for 12 hours per night easily, or more?

i ask because i do not feel rested after naps/night time sleeping, and i understand
that most people with narcolepsy DO feel rested at least temporarily.
it makes me wonder about my condition. i do have the EDS everyday, and sometimes have sleep paralysis and hallucinations. i also drift very quickly into REM sleep. my biggest concern is that i always oversleep, i have such a difficult time waking up in the morning, and i feel like i need 10 or more hours of sleep every night. its not uncommon for me to sleep 13 hours/night.

please let me know, thanks.

non restorative sleep
Yep! Awakening from ANY length of sleep without feeling restored is very familiar... And sleeping 36 hours straight is a periodic occurance that is a requirement in my life. I think the ability to arouse has gotten better but it seems to have coincided with shortening my work week to 12 hours Tuesday, 6 hours Wednesday, 12 hours Thursday (I own my own medical practice). But I still have very little energy for anything other than work. On days that i don't see patients, I don't schedule anything before 11 AM because i am likely to sleep until 10. If I don't have anything on my schedule, I can easily sleep past Noon and feel like I slept no more than on the days when i have to get up for work at 6:45.
I also have cataplexy attacks that last for up to 3 hours and have only once occurred on a day that I had patients scheduled. I feel like I just hold it together for those 3 days and then sleep to catch up.
