If you don't mind. Can you explain to me how the liquid works by putting it in the neck. Also, does the brand matters? Is a genric brand just a good? My mom did give me like a 3 pack of liquid but I used it like once or twice because I didn't think it was doing a good job.

Personally, I have found that the name brand works better. Simply because the other brands don't offer mosquito protection (mosquitos cause heart worms) or tick protection (a MUST in South Carolina).
Do NOT use Hartz brand from the grocery store-it has been known to cause serious health problems in animals.

I'm not sure exactly how the medicine works, I just know it works better. You squirt some of it on the neck area-by the collar and move towards the tail, getting contact with most of the spine. You place the majority on the neck because that is where fleas prefer to nest mostly.

PLEASE don't use Hartz brand! Check out this site before you use it, you won't want to after reading the horrible experiences parents of doggies and kitties have had...

I had a pet that got a tape worm from things other than fleas--a couple times

There are different forms of worms. Hookworms, tapeworms, heartworms, and roundworms.
Tapeworms only come from fleas.

Tape worms can come from any type of grazing animal, like sheep, rabbits ad things like that. They are most commonly from fleas. that is what my vet told me when I had tank treated a week ago for tapeworm

I love Pet meds! I order from them all the time....both Frontline and Heartgaurd Plus. Their prices are amazing and the shipping is very quick.

I second everyone else in saying that Hartz is no good. I know that the other brands such as Advantix and Frontline are more exspensive, but they are sooooo much better for you baby.

Hi
Posted: 06-11-08 22:19pm

When I finally got my Ragdoll cat to come out of hte woods t o trust me enough, I brushed his and found tapeworms. THey look like rice and break off in segment. After ordering 3 pills from 1800 petmed...........which took over 16 days from FLorida to Georgia to get here...........did'nt do a thing. Waste of time and money. I otok him ot the vet and seh immedaitely put resolution on him. This kills felas, their larvae, ear mites and tapeworm. The wroms were eliminated within a couple days. I keep his little ears cleaned out and as far as flea meds............YES, I go to EBay and have found REPUTABLE sellers who are licensed to sell Advantix and Advantage......at a price you will find no where else. Have been using this for over a year and it has worked remarkable well on all 4 cats. Needless to say the vet was pissed, she wan't getting her cut($) and tried to tell my I was taking a chance putting that 'stuff" on my cats...............its legally marked, and the real mccoy does not have an expiration date! My cats are healthy (slightly over weight), no fleas, no ear mites and no wroms............thought I'd pass this on to others who are tired of paying overhead!

I personally won't use anything other than Frontline, never had any bad reactions to it.

Lilly......I hope you don't mean that in a bad way:) I really do love PetMeds.....but speaking of flea preventatives, I'm actually considering changing to Advantix, because it has the added bonus of mosquito protection.

I don't think I take anything in a bad way... I just started laughing when I read it, cause that commercial just popped right in my head. I try to avoid delivery to my house though, I pretty much live in BFE, lol. Like the Jeff Foxworthy thing... 'if directions to your house include turn off the paved road'... yup, that's me!
