Thought id post it here to give people hope coz you never hear the good ones, only the gruesome stories.
So id been 3 cm dilated for about 3 weeks and having strong braxton hicks on and off but nothing too serious. On the 7th august, i started having what i thought were braxton hicks again quite late at night, they were strong enough to keep me awake, so i timed them but they were only every 8 or so mins. I went to mums at 8 the next morning coz i couldnt deal with my toddler (im a solo mum) after no sleep and called my midwife coz i thought she should come see me just in case. Just as well coz she turned up at 9 and did a v.e, she was real shocked to find i was 7 cm dilated! i didnt even think i was in labour! we rushed to hospital and i was admitted at 9.38am. i was still able to walk and talk through the contractions, they were just bad enough to make it difficult! At 10, i had a really strong contraction and stood up just as my waters broke. I went and hopped into the bath and 10 mins later told my midwife i need to push. I pushed for a minute, literally before my 8lbs baby boy was born. apart from a slight graze which i couldnt feel, there was no damage at all! i went home the next morning.
His name by the way is Anthony Robert, Anthony after my mums father, and Robert after my deceased father.

That is a nice story. Since I have 5 myself and first time moms to be ask me how bad it is, I always tell them, "if it were really that bad, do you think ppl would have seconds and so on?" Honestly, since the invention of epidurals, women seem to have less then when there was no pain meds. BTW, I never had an epidural. I'm affraid of lasting damage from a needle in my back.
