Hi,

I noticed the first cysts on the side of my face about 2 years ago. It was never painful, sore or tender, it was just a lump. It started getting bigger and I had my family doctor remove it surgically. However I am not too happy with the scar that remains. I started getting more cysts forming on my face and they are getting bigger.

I am 23 year old male, very active, eat well and I consider myself a healthy person all together.

My questions are:
1. What causes formation of these cysts? How can I prevent them?
2. How can I get rid of the ones that have already formed? Is excision the only way?

I am a bit frustrated because the cysts on my face are embarrassing and I waited 6 months (public health system) to see a dermatologist today and she spent probably 30 seconds on me before referring me to a plastic surgeon which I have to wait another 8 months - 1 year for. It has gotten to the point where I don't shave my face anymore to hide what I can.

Thanks in advance for all your responses,

Emad
