This kind of thing has undoubtedly been covered in other questions here, but I couldn't quite find it. I'm new here. Anyway, about a year ago, I started having some pain and or a numbing sensation at the base of a couple of toes on one foot. My doctor suggested new shoes and walking in them does help. Now I have the sensation in both feet, general foot aches that extend into my ankles, and recently there are small twitches all over my calves (like being gently poked by a finger). I suspect it has something to with my cheap office chair, and lately I've been leaning forward, putting lots of presure on the back of my thighs, and I dig the ball of my feet into the chair leg (you know, where the wheels are) to get a better look at the computer screen. It just dawned on me to move the screen closer -- I'm a little slow. Do you think I just diagnosed myself, or is it time to check with my doctor? This probably seems stupid, but it's been worrying me. Thank you!

Do you still have the numbing sensation & twitches? I started getting the same thing almost 2 years ago and slowly getting worse. Toes have become numb from base to tips on both feet. Twitching is intermittent. Have you found the cause?

Since then I've developed back problems, but the pain management doc says that aching and twitching calves are something that comes with age (I'm 58)and is not related to my back. The toe situation is the same -- no better, no worse. Your toe problem sounds worse than mine and you probably should tell a doctor about it. Best wishes.

Thank you for your reply. Have been to MD for complete blood work and neurologist for possible spine problem. Everything's fine. Have been doing step aerobics (mainly on toes) 15 years & think it may be possible cause. Along with age! (62) Again, thanks for your reply. It did confirm the age possibility. Do hope your back problems can be resolved easily. I've found that chiropractors can do wonders without meds or surgery. Best to you ~
