Q: Muscle relaxer treatment ?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on April 15th, 2009
Do I need to see a DR or will this go away? Do you think the neck and left hand are related? Maybe this is just aches and pains of someone who is almost 59? Please help. Would a muscle relaxer help any?

Your question involves the pain you feel in your arm and neck.

Due to the fact that you are on several medications, the possibility exists that your body may need assistance with detoxification through a foundational nutrition program. Pain is an indication that something is off in your body, and medications only mask the symptoms. Many times these medications can cause adverse affects related to their usage. One of the major by products is stress and over stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system. This is essentially your "fight or flight" mechanism.

When this happens, muscles that commonly shorten and tighten include the back of your neck, the muscles that flex your hips, and the lower back. The longer these muscles stay overactive and tight, the more likely they are to create orthopedic problems, such as neck pain.

A good approach to helping may include nutrition to reduce inflammation, massage to tolerance, and light movement therapy.
