Q: Multiple menstraul cycles a month
asked by: DoctorQuestion on April 3rd, 2009
I am having 2-3 Menstraul cycles a month. I am also having very sharp pains inside my vagina. I just recently saw a gyn on 3/30/09 and the dr wasn't able to tell me what was wrong. I was scheduled for my pap that day but was bleeding. She tried giving my the pap because i informed her of my pains. She wasn't able to do the full exam but was able to test for a couple std's and didn't find anything abnormal. I have never had an abnormal pap. I am also have noticed that my discharge has been thinker than usual and slightly brown. My cycles last anywhere from 2-7 days and are light to medium (sometimes heavy but not usually). These pains are very random and last anywhere from a couple seconds to 30 mins. Some are sharper pains than others and it hurts to make any kind of movement when they occur. My mom thinks I may have cervical cancer.. but since i haven't had an std is that possible? What could be causing my pains, thick/brown discharge, and irregular bleeding?

The irregular bleeding might be related to hormonal imbalance. Hormonal laboratory tests might confirm this condition.
On the other hand, sometimes you might be experiencing mid term bleeding accompanied with cramps due to painful release of the egg from its cyst. You might want to write down the date of the pain and the bleeding and to show the data to your gynecologist the next time you see her.
