Young children are prone to developing small anal fissures (cracks in the lining of the anal canal), particularly when they are chronically constipated, and which may result in occasional bleeding with BMs. Also, some children may develop irritation of the perianal area from over-aggressive wiping or from dermatitis associated with wipes or toilet paper, and this condition may also result in discomfort and bleeding.

Most of the time, the presence of occasional droplets of bright liquid red blood with BMs is not related to any serious underlying health problem, however, there can, rarely, be a more serious explanation. Because it is impossible to render a diagnosis over the Internet, I would recommend that you have your child's pediatrician do a thorough physical examination to rule-out any serious illnesses.
