Had the flu this past Christmas and from
it developed a "hidden sinus infection".
Symtoms: Light headed sometimes, constant
ear buzzing at same level,
Headache with temples
pulsing and both inner ears have
constant internal
pressure (head pressure), eye squinting at
night watching TV (light
seems too bright), unusual fatigue.
This has been going on
for 4 months now.
Results so far: Ear tests excellent, no
fluid, blood pressure ok
Limited Sinus CT
Scan showed mild frontal, ethmoid and
right maxillary
sinusitis. No air fluid levels to suggest
acute sinusitis.
Haller cells unchanged and nasal
deviation
to the right.
Treatment: 4 weeks of Ceftin. Little to
no improvement.
Told physician this week that my son has
had 2 difficult bouts with MRSA. I drew
out a cause and effect diagram with my son
with symptoms and dates and myself with
the same and visually it looks
suspicious.
Doc took a culture and is testing for
mrsa. Should have results back by
Monday.
Any other thoughts if it comes back
negative?
Thanks,

Culture Results came in sooner than
expected:
No Mrsa, but was diagnosed as "heavy
staph"
Prescribed: cephalexin 500mg x 3 per day
for 2wks. Sure gives a kind of lazyish
feeling after waking up in the AM after 1
day of this stuff.
It'll be interesting to see if it knocks
out the ear buzzing/rushing, too.
