Hi everyone, I am new to this forum, and I could use your help. For the past 2 years I have been experiencing ankle and calf swelling everyday. I have gone to my doctor who did just about every test on me possible. He found no cause of why my ankle/calves swell as they do. My cholestrol is normal, sodium, sugars, blood pressure, etc. I am definitely not over weight. I had EKG's, Echo's, DMV test, etc. all come back fine. About a 7 months ago, I have been starting to experience a lot of pains in my legs and now in my arms. It started bothering me occasionally, and now bothers me every day as well. Some days my legs feel week, some days the pain is severe, numbness, burning, tingling, stabbing pain. All depends some days worse than others. My arms hurt, sometimes feel week. Sometimes I get spasms in my arms and legs too. I can't stress how many blood tests I have had that came back normal. They checked for everything possible with no positive results. Lately my eyes have been going blurry, foggy, my arms and legs are getting weaker and weaker. My doctor sent me for an MRI on the brain and said they found one lesion. He is convinced I had a stroke. My question is, how could I have a stroke and still feel so bad. other days worse than others. I don't just feel numb, pain on one side of body, I hurt all over and I am weak all over. Now I have to go for a TEE test to see if there is any blockage or damage to my heart. I don't think that I had a stroke, or if I did, I don't think that is the only problem I am experiencing. I believe it is MS but he doesn't want to see that. I have almost every symptom for it. My mother had polio as a child...Anybody have any suggestions on what I should do?

Multiple sclerosis is really on of the possibilities as far as stroke too. You can request spinal tap to exclude/confirm MS or stroke. If you have MS there should be detected increased level of immunoglobulins and lymphocytes in the cerebral liquor. If you have stroke there should be no imunoglobulins and lymphocytes increased in the cerebro-spinal liquor.
Trans-esophageal echocardography (TEE) - test is used for investigating the organs in the chest cavity not the brain.
You can consult some neurologist about this.

1 3mmLesion and persistant abnormalities in the pons......
My Neurologist still isn't convinced I have MS. I show a 3mm lesion and there are persistant signal abnormalities at the level of the pons. All of the EMG's and CSF; EVP and 3 MRI's show no change or normal. I have been literally suffering for almost 4 years. I cannot go to work and without a diagnosis, I can't get disability. My symptoms are EXACTLY MS symptoms, every single one!! I have had 3 opinions and I am tearing my hair out!! Why can't 1 lesion be enough to diagnose MS? For those of us that have the symptoms and a lesion, what is our next step?????????????
