I have been suffering with my back now for 12 months, i finally had my MRI scan a month ago and last week recieved my results, I have been told that I need to see a spinal surgeon urgently but I have just been put on a very long waiting list could anyone give me any info on on my results as i am now very worried and still in severe pain. My results are very long but there is a conclusion at the bottom and it reads..There appears to be a transitional lumbo sacral vertebra at L5 there is moderate disc protrusion at L4/5 which is predominatly right sided and is compressing the right L5 nerve root and right anterior thecal sac. Mild desiccation change noted at L2/3 AND 3/4 and some deggenerate changes also at T10/11.

I would really appreciated any advise thanks

The nerve in oyur back is being compressed-this would be like taking a wet noodle and pressing on it..You know how it becoes pinched well that's the way your nerve is right now..The rest issaying it is noted that you are having changes in the spinal discs as well as some arthritis and aging changes..I don't know your age but we all have spinal changes starting at birth..I would ask for some Lidocaine patches to use on the back until you decide on surgery..The patches help to numb surface areas and believe me this does help some..The patches works rather quickly as well which is a blessing..Lidocaine patches ar not a cure all but it releaves enough to help you think..best ofluck..

Thanks for your reply, I should have been going to see a Spinal Surgeon on Monday 6th July but this has now been cancelled due to a mix up at the Hospital. I did have to visit A&E last Sunday due to the pain as it has now started treavelling down my left leg as well and my bladder problems are getting worse but they just added Diazapan to all the other Medication I am taking and sent me home.

I understand..I will not take Diazapam it makes me feel yucky and I feel rough enough as is..

I hope you get resecheduled soon..My pain also travels into myleg but not alwasy there..I have alreadyhad 1 surgeryon bladder and coming up on second one before July is done..

Stay on top of your problem..I think sometimes docs.forget unless they have same problem..Most time they say deal with it--I have told them no you deal with it that is why I came to you in the first place..I hate pills as they make me so nauseated that it's hard to figure out which is worse pain or nausea..I still thnk you could find some relief with the Lidocaine Patches-you'd be very surprized-not a cure all but does help some with the surface pain..

Best of luck ..
