Hi,
My husband just had an MRI last week and got the results today. His mother is gravely ill and we need to travel to be with her but I am concerned. Is it ok to travel based on these results:

Mild aneurysmal dilatation of infrarenal aorta is noted (25mm in maximum transverse diameter). Visualized pre and paravertebral regions including kidneys are otherwise unremarkable.

Impression:
1. Mild aneurysmal dilatation of infrarenal aorta.
2. Grade I retrolisthesis of L2 over L3 and grade I anterolisthesis of L4 over the L5 vertebral body.
3. Diffuse asymmetrical disc bulges at L2-3 through L5-S-1 levels, as described.
4. Neuroforaminal compromise as enumerated: bilateral mild at L2-3 through L5-S-1 levels.
5. Moderate to severe spinal stenosis at L4-5 level.
6. Moderate spondylotic changes of lumbar spine.

My husband is an only child and we just don't know how serious this is or if it is safe to travel about 900 miles.

Thank You.

You need to discuss these results with you husband's doctor as to how safe it is for him to travel.

We are not doctors, just every day people like yourself that post on the forums and have some experience with spinal problems.

I don't know how serious the aorta problem would be.

I assume that you husband is in quite a bit of pain with moderate/severe spinal stenosis at l4/l5 as I suffered with that for 4 months before having surgery.

and disc bulges can be quite painful as well.

Good luck and I'm sorry to hear about your mother-in-law.

Fran
