I have been told by two different
doctor's, that my jaw looks like it should
be moved forward to reach it's optimal
position. After reading that tmjd causes a
forward shift in the tmj this has me
flustered. can someone explain if this is
normal, and how this might have come
about?

read the tmj tips sticky so you can phrase your question Posted: 08-29-08 14:57pm
in a way that people can understand
better. May be you need to understand
what TMJ and TMD are (and then talk to
your doctors one more time?) so that your
question is a little more specific? "tmjd
causes a forward shift in the tmj" -- I'm
not sure of this.
Also, what is your goal? Pain relief?
maybea mouthguard with botox and physical
therapy If it's just cosmetic, be aware
that moving a jaw forward is a horrendous
abount of surgery and recovery time --
maybe you can do it another way with like
above or veneers.
Maybe you should read all the tmj tips
sticky

I think the original poster is not
referring to his or her job being moved
forward surgically, but instead using
splint therapy. During the day I wear a
regular splint, and at night I wear a
splint called a Bionator, which keeps my
top and bottom jaws in alignment, moves
the lower jaw forward, opens up the TMJ's,
and also prevents me from grinding my
molars. Now I have no pain or clicking in
my TMJs.

ive always felt that if move my jaw
outwards it feels much better. It doesnt
click as much and i feel like it relieves
the pressure on my ears. also ive got a
slight overbite and I have always wondered
whether my jaw should be adjusted so its
more forward??!
