Hi, I love jogging but don't do it often and today I went for a jog and came back and my mouth or gums I guess where really hurting. This happens mostly on cold days but happens every time I jog? Is there a medical reason for this? Does this happen to everybody? Is this just my body saying you're not fit enough? Let me know please.

If I had to guess I would says its nothing more than a bad tooth....possibly even an abscess.

I know the back of my tongue and that area gets sore when I run because I have my mouth open. Is that what you're describing?

hmm well it's not a bad tooth or absess I know that for sure because my teeth are good or great even.

The pain is at the back of my top teeth (the ones in the middle not further back in the jaw).

I think it's just that they must get cold my friend suggested running with a scarf or facemask when it's cold out, that helps.

gums hurt when I run
Same thing happens to me. My gums hurt when I run. I have great teeth and gums. It has to do with the amount of oxygen your taking in, or lack of oxygen while exercising. Try pacing yourself and finding a breathing rhythm.
