Big Oil and Price fixing or Medically engineered side effects so that medicaitons can be made quickly obsolete. I get sucked into the conspiracy because we've seen the things huge corporations get caught doing. It's believable that International corporations would have defective ethics and weak government oversight.

People need things to worry about. Most of them I expect need distractions from the distressing reality of their lives. Others have genuine issues with paranoia. The lot of them really don't have a strong grasp of what would be required to accomplish the conspiracies they've set out.
